In the fight against online harms, we are stronger together

Our vision

TrustTiers is dedicated to a vision of a world in which the internet is a safe space for children to grow, learn and play online; in which children’s digital rights are upheld and they can expect to be protected from harm. All of this is to say that we envision a digital landscape in which all participants can trust one another: e.g. children can trust the platforms they use to be accountable, their parents to exercise their duty of care digitally and government to oversee the internet with their best interests in mind. And platforms, parents and government can also trust each other to operate responsibly and with children’s best interests at heart.

How do we build that trust?

At TrustElevate, we believe that if companies knew the real ages of their users, they could create age-appropriate spaces for children and young people to grow, learn and play without fear of online abuse, exposure to traumatising content and grooming. Both children and their could trust platforms to provide safe spaces for them while platforms could trust that their services are being used appropriately and in the ways they intended for their users.

The technology to do this exists, but big tech companies aren't paying enough attention and enforcement of the laws that are in place is not working. A lone voice won’t effect change, but together we can leverage strength in numbers to campaign for a safer internet for our children.

If your goals align with our vision, then we’d love to hear from you! If you have ideas for a programme of research or technical development on which you would like our support or you would like us to collaborate, let us know!

TrustTiers is keen to drive change and implement our vision. We aim to do so by getting involved in, financially and collaboratively, projects seeking to build solutions and/or the evidence base around child protection solutions, strategies and procedures online.

In doing so, we are enhancing the very ecosystem which sustains the community development work of our mission statement. Outputs from associated programmes of work and projects are shared with other organisations, regulators, platforms and governments so that we can make the internet a safe place for children to learn, grow and play.
